Toddlers 2-3 years

Children entering the toddler stage are becoming more independent and learning new skills each and every day. Once they are developmentally ready to leave the baby unit, your child will move into the toddler 2-3 years unit.

They will be in an environment that will challenge their curiosity further whilst also supporting different emotions your child is experiencing at this particular age.

Development

We encourage independent learning and know that it is sometimes important to take a sit back, observe, and let children have a go themselves…

Children learn by taking risks and allowing themselves to explore and develop new skills, whilst support being given when needed. It is key that we value learning by providing rich learning opportunities through play and teaching. Toddlers are becoming more aware of the world around them and we support their culture capital by offering an environment which is relevant to all children’s cultures and the communities they live within.

The rooms have a natural appearance, from the resources to the decor, providing an exciting and educational learning environment.

There is lots going on in toddlers such as exploring new feelings, tantrums, language development, pretend play, independence, new thinking skills and much more. As a toddler this is the most important age in regard to exploring feelings for emotional development.

Your toddler is going through lots of emotions while also learning about other people’s feelings. Temper tantrums can be expected because children often do not know how to put words to emotions and verbally express how they are feeling. It is key as practitioners that we support this by helping your child develop their speech, communication, and language skills effectively.
